In happier news, I don't think I got to mention it before but I did see Frankenstein for a second time on Monday. This time with Benedict as the Creature. The two performances were both wonderful and I enjoyed both for very different reasons. But I will say that I preferred Benedict's Victor. In general, Benedict brought a lot more vulnerability to both roles. It's a powerful and fantastic play either way. And the music. Absolutely loved the music. And the set. And everything about it, really.

Since I spent about 7 hours in Japantown, I also took some pictures while I was there.

Pictures done this way since LJ won't let me insert an image within the entry atm )

Went to see Frankenstein today. Wasn't sure how I was going to react, afraid I'd just be all 'Cumberbatch ♥_♥ *drool*' And I was actually slightly disappointed at first because on the site it said he was supposed to be the creature for my showing, but he wasn't. And it's true, I'd have loved to seem him as the creature, but the play itself was just so damn good. I don't really have any coherent thoughts so I don't think there will be spoilers. Just. Damn. That was quite an intense play. Brilliant performances. I must admit I've never read the original story, so all I have to compare it to are the movies which yeah... But I just, the ending was perfect and I went through so many emotions! I felt sorry for and hated pretty much everyone at one point. If you have a chance, go see it! I'm actually debating going back to Japantown on Monday just to see it again (hopefully this time with Benedict as the creature). It would require me to do a lot more public transportation than I'm used to (or comfortable with) but I think it would be worth it. It would cost me another $20 though :/

I must be crazy. I just bought myself another ticket for Monday's showing. I really wish they'd put this play (both versions) on DVD.

Tomorrow though I'm going to WonderCon for the Doctor Who panel.

Oh, and I got Mega Shark vs Giant Octopus on Blu-ray for $5. Win ;) I also had Oreos and Diet Coke Lime for dinner so I'm kind of like this now 0_0

Oh, hey. My 7th LJ anniversary is in 10 days (on the 24th). I feel like it's been longer. In a good way of course ;)

So, some of you may already know that Benedict Cumberbatch will be performing in Frankenstein. Now, I thought about flying to London to see it live, but being jobless kind of puts a damper on things. No money and all that. HOWEVER, Frankenstein will be broadcast to cinemas around the world on 17 March and varying dates internationally. You can find a participating theater near you here. My friend just got us two tickets to see it at the Kabuki theater in Japantown on April 2nd! I have no idea if Mr. Cumberbatch will be playing the scientist or the monster though...

And that's about as exciting as my life is these days, LOL.

PS My background. Made from [livejournal.com profile] sugaredlime's wonderful art, found here. It's Sherlock and John as dinosaurs. Adorable dinosaurs ♥

PPS I popped my writing cherry 0_0 I wrote a drabble for a [livejournal.com profile] holmesverse challenge. I've never written anything before! I'm scared. It's nothing special or all that original, but AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!! *runs around screaming*

One of these days I'll finish my advent calender ;)

I stayed up last night so I could listen to Mazza and Kazza live on the radio, playing some of their favorite tracks from this year. These were their choices... )

While waiting for their show, I watched Van Gogh: Painted with Words and proceeded to cry my eyes out. Take Vincent's story, in his own words, performed by Benedict Cumberbatch and you have one of the most heartbreaking things you've ever seen.

Charlie and the Doctor's Badger - Doctor Who Confidential - I LOVE THEM ALL A RIDICULOUS AMOUNT <3

Matt Smith was on "The Graham Norton Show" where we saw that he was wearing nail polish. My head!canon is that Karen painted his nails for him because that would make me RIDICULOUSLY HAPPY ♥_♥

I got to open one of my presents today and I got these two shirts XD

Also, just wanted to say that I've gotten cards from [livejournal.com profile] natacup82, [livejournal.com profile] fenellaevangela, [livejournal.com profile] justbolognese, [livejournal.com profile] kimberlyfdr, and [livejournal.com profile] beetle_breath. THANK YOU <3

I know I'm late to the party, but I just finished American Gods by Neil Gaiman. It took me forever but that's my fault. Once I really started, I didn't want to put it down. It didn't feel long at all. More like I didn't want it to end. I had no idea how it was all going to come together, but as I was reading the final chapters, it felt like a giant smack to my forehead. A big ol' D'OH! moment. However, I don't want to spoil anything if for some reason you haven't read it yet. All I'll say is what are you waiting for?!

Now, I've read that the UK version is longer than ours and I was wondering if anyone has read both or knows if there are any important differences.

--------------

Matt Smith on The Late Late Show was so adorably awkward. There is no better word for that man other than adorkable. You can watch the interview here.

Benedict Cumberbatch was looking mighty foine @ The Prince's Trust Gala.

DOCTOR WHO CHRISTMAS SPECIAL IS ACTUALLY GOING TO AIR. ON CHRISTMAS. IN THE STATES.
