i'm really bad at these subject lines....

let's see, today we have NCIS, House, Scrubs (which my brother has to tape for me), and Boston Legal. cool :) so my classes are going well so far- of course they only started last Thursday. my 3 classes are "Into to American Popular Culture," "Intro to Visual Culture," and "Intro to Television Culture and Society." they all have quite a bit of reading and writing involved, but they all sound really interesting and although they are all in different departments (American Studies, Anthropology, Film and Digital Media) they are all connected. i hope that helps me understand the topics better and doesn't just confuse me ^_^ i'm really looking forward to the last week of TV culture because we are going to be talking about FANDOMS and specifically STAR TREK!! if i don't do well in this class, i'm going to be very depressed. all my teachers seem really cool this quarter though, and that is one of the most important things for me. if i don't like the teacher, i typically don't really care what they're saying and that's not good ;) in my American Studies class, people kept coming in late- ONE AT A FUCKING TIME. i felt so bad for our teacher. but he was pretty cool about it- he wrote on the board "Don't be late GDI". we all looked around asking "GDI?" and he was like "That's right, right? God Damn It." he seems like a fun guy :) but i do have a quiz in his class tomorrow.
so RD series VII came out today. i haven't gotten it yet for a couple of reasons, #1 being i have no money :) but also, it'll make me cry again and i still need series II, V, and VI. i wonder if they are still putting cards into some of the DVDs. i didn't for series I or III but i did for IV. i got Lister, female Holly, Cat, and... Ace.
over x-mas break, i was looking in almost every library in SF for a book called "Wake Up, Sir!" by Jonathan Ames but it was always checked out. i would have bought it but i wasn't sure i would even like it and hardcover books aren't cheap. anyways, yesterday i decided to check my school library and they had it. they also had quite a few Jeeves books i haven't read yet, so i also checked out "The Cat-Nappers" which i started (and finished) last night, and "The Code of the Woosters."
so, just because, i'll do 2 memes (both seen on
like_cheap_wine's journal):
The problem with LJ: We all think we are so close, but really we know nothing about each other. So I want you to ask me something you think you should know about me. Something that should be obvious, but you have no idea about. Ask away.
and to give me an excuse to use my digital camera
Tell me what you'd like to see and I'll take a picture of it and post it on my journal.

drunk]
[music| Star Trek: TNG ]
as for how i'm feeling (drunk)- not really. i just like that picture :) i did have coffee though, so i am hyper. first, the not-so-important stuff.
*this is my second year at UCSC and i only saw my first Banana Slug the other day. well, i've seen them before, but not in the wild ;) and there were 6 of them! i almost stepped on one walking back to my dorm. i wanted to see it slime its way across the path, but after about 10 minutes of watching it get a quarter of the way there, i decided i had better things to do =D
*i had my first US Pop Culture class today and while there will be a lot of reading, my teacher seems really cool. he said he doesn't have a problem with us bringing our own drinks to class (like coffee since it's at 9:30 am) and that he prefers drinking bourbon from a thermos :)
*i went downtown today and bought some of my school books (not cheap).
*while downtown, i had a burrito for lunch. man, i miss San Francisco! Mission street has so spoiled me. this burrito was tasteless. and as much as i love U2, that is not what you should be hearing in a taqueria!
*i wore a shiny H on my forehead while downtown too in honor of International Be-A-Hologram Day. as i walked along the sidewalk, i passed some punk guy and he turned back around, smiled and said "That's really entertaining! Hologram?" when i said 'Yes' he sort of laughed, said "Cool" and walked on. it always makes me so happy when someone recognizes random stuff like that XD
*one thing i find interesting about California is our weather. last week we had storms knocking trees into houses, hundreds (if not thousands) of homes without power, cities flooded, etc. and now it's a beautiful warm, sunny day. seasons? what are seasons?
*tonight- all new SG-1 and Atlantis!!
*and now, Jeeves & Wooster icons XD i must point out that some of them are random and some i'm not too fond of, but i made them and they deserve to be shown. it's not their fault they're ugly ;) also, i've been playing with animations, so... yeah. 69 icons- some with variations :)
teasers:
( Good Lord! Good Lord! Well, I mean to say, Good Lord! )
