let's see, today we have NCIS, House, Scrubs (which my brother has to tape for me), and Boston Legal. cool :) so my classes are going well so far- of course they only started last Thursday. my 3 classes are "Into to American Popular Culture," "Intro to Visual Culture," and "Intro to Television Culture and Society." they all have quite a bit of reading and writing involved, but they all sound really interesting and although they are all in different departments (American Studies, Anthropology, Film and Digital Media) they are all connected. i hope that helps me understand the topics better and doesn't just confuse me ^_^ i'm really looking forward to the last week of TV culture because we are going to be talking about FANDOMS and specifically STAR TREK!! if i don't do well in this class, i'm going to be very depressed. all my teachers seem really cool this quarter though, and that is one of the most important things for me. if i don't like the teacher, i typically don't really care what they're saying and that's not good ;) in my American Studies class, people kept coming in late- ONE AT A FUCKING TIME. i felt so bad for our teacher. but he was pretty cool about it- he wrote on the board "Don't be late GDI". we all looked around asking "GDI?" and he was like "That's right, right? God Damn It." he seems like a fun guy :) but i do have a quiz in his class tomorrow.
so RD series VII came out today. i haven't gotten it yet for a couple of reasons, #1 being i have no money :) but also, it'll make me cry again and i still need series II, V, and VI. i wonder if they are still putting cards into some of the DVDs. i didn't for series I or III but i did for IV. i got Lister, female Holly, Cat, and... Ace.
over x-mas break, i was looking in almost every library in SF for a book called "Wake Up, Sir!" by Jonathan Ames but it was always checked out. i would have bought it but i wasn't sure i would even like it and hardcover books aren't cheap. anyways, yesterday i decided to check my school library and they had it. they also had quite a few Jeeves books i haven't read yet, so i also checked out "The Cat-Nappers" which i started (and finished) last night, and "The Code of the Woosters."
so, just because, i'll do 2 memes (both seen on
like_cheap_wine's journal):
The problem with LJ: We all think we are so close, but really we know nothing about each other. So I want you to ask me something you think you should know about me. Something that should be obvious, but you have no idea about. Ask away.
and to give me an excuse to use my digital camera
Tell me what you'd like to see and I'll take a picture of it and post it on my journal.

Date: 2006-01-11 05:03 am (UTC)Whuaaaaa? That TV Culture class sounds mega-awesome! ;__; I'd have FAR too much to say about the Star Trek fandom and probably get kicked out for hating on Klingon weddings and the total OTP!!ness of Spock/Kirk....
or Kirk/Spock, I guess. >_>
I'm combining your two memes! Do you still sleep with the same stuffed animal you slept with as a kid? And if so, are there pictures of the stuffed animal?
D: Okay, it's not necessarily obvious, but it was the first thing to pop in my head.

Date: 2006-01-11 09:54 am (UTC)I've always loved your icons and I some how zippy zoppied over here. Would you mind terribly if I added you as a friend?
I've been reading your "Stoke me a Clipper" post/comments and yes, it is sad but I actually like the episode!!! Haha. I just love the interactions between Lister & Rimmer at the end. Splendid stuff. Mind you, I've not watched the rest of the series (bar "Blue") since I got it in November. Extra Features are more fun =)

Date: 2006-01-11 10:44 pm (UTC)i loved the moments between Rimmer and Lister in "Stoke me a Clipper" too- they were so adorable together XD i just wish it wasn't so sad- or maybe that i wouldn't cry at everything ^_^ and yeah, i still have to see the rest of series VII too (although i have seen "Blue" too).

Date: 2006-01-11 12:02 pm (UTC)Though I will watch some of the others sometimes with cast commentary as it's great to hear Chris comment on the episodes he wasn't in! He even slips into character at one point! ;)
