wow. i haven't been online in the past 3 days. i've been busy reading the new Star Trek book i got "The Return" by William Shatner. i also just watched 'Bubba Ho-tep' with Bruce Campbell. i haven't gotten around to watching 'Constantine' yet, but i will tomorrow. sunday is my brother's birthday. he's going to be 17. he's a senior in high school. my sister just started 5th grade. when did this happen?! when did my little siblings start growing up? and i start my second year of college in september. [i don't move in till september 18.]
let's see... what have i been up to? well, last weekend i was at my dad's and we went shopping at Best Buys for a printer and microwave for my dorm- yay! i am ridiculously excited about having a new printer/copier/scanner :) i'm going to have to start packing soon. it takes me a while to get everything together mostly because i can't decide on anything and i have to double-check it all. especially because now that i'm rooming by myself i have to bring everything- tv, fridge, vcr, dvd player, computer, printer, microwave, office chair, etc.. i think i'm going to have to bring some stuff up another weekend.
in the mail, i finally got my R2-D2 bowl from Kellogg's. it's a lot bigger than i thought it would be o_0 i don't think i can eat that much cereal in one sitting. but it's so cute. when you turn the base on and press the bowl into the base, it lights up and makes beeping sounds *squee!* i'm so easily entertained =D now i can eat my cocoa puffs from Artoo's head with a light saber spoon. somehow, that doesn't sound right. i don't have a digital camera [yet] but i found some pix online here. yay for stuff i don't need but want anyway!!!
YAY! [again] i got my banner for completing the 100 Rimmer icons for
icons100 :D
i also changed my cell phone ringtones so now my phone plays the opening theme from Red Dwarf, the honky-tonk theme, or the closing theme from 'Gunmen of the Apocalypse'. woo-hoo for fandom obsession!
well, 'Bubba Ho-tep' was definitely an interesting movie. i loved the music. my favorite parts [other than the obvious Elvis fighting a mummy] were the subtitles for what the mummy said. that mummy had attitude ;) my favorite line was "Eat the dog dick of Anubis you ass wipe!" HA! and that came from the mummy XD i don't know if i would buy it for myself, i don't know how many times i would watch it, but i'm glad i saw it at least once. plus, i just like Bruce Campbell.
'The Return' by William Shatner was good. i really enjoyed it. i, like many others, was not happy with the fact that Kirk 'died'. and even though this story ends with Kirk 'dying', at least he gets a chance to say good-bye to Spock and McCoy. plus, Spock doesn't believe he's dead- therefore he's not dead :) i can't begin to say how much i loved the fact that Spock knew Kirk was still alive because they had mind-melded and they were still connected. they were bonded to each other XD granted i cry at pretty much everything, i cried quite a bit after reading this story. i've been so caught up in Red Dwarf, that i've put my other fandoms on hold. i had forgotten just how much i love Kirk/Spock. when Kirk was shot and his last word before he passed out was 'Spock'... awwwwww :) plus, any book that has the crew of TNG, Spock, McCoy, Kirk, Quark, and Doctor Bashir is awesome.
Stargate SG-1 is good. i miss the old school team sometimes, but the stories are interesting. i figure that if i watch this season as almost a new show, then it's okay. but for some reason, i think i might be more interested in Atlantis now. i don't think i watched a complete episode from season 1, but so far, i've watched 3 whole episodes of this season and liked them. of course, the episode that drew me in was 'Duet' because i couldn't not watch the man on man action ;) but since then, i've tried watching the show and i've liked what i've seen so far. and i can completely see the attraction of McKay/Sheppard. in the last maybe 2 episodes, i've seen so many sparks between those two =)
i'm kinda tired now, so i better get offline. hopefully i'll be making more icons soon :)
PS while looking up how to spell 'caffeinated' from Dictionary.com, i saw this and thought it was interesting:
caffeine: A bitter white alkaloid, C8H10N4O2, often derived from tea or coffee and used in medicine chiefly as a mild stimulant and to treat certain kinds of headache.
i never really thought about caffeine, so it never even crossed my mind that it had a color. and i know it's a stimulant, but too much of it gives me headaches. or if i don't have enough. needless to say, i'm a caffeine addict ;) i guess there are worse things to be addicted to.

STUDYGLEE! indeed XD

Date: 2005-08-23 08:14 pm (UTC)I'm always a whumper first, definitely, but slash is creeping into my interests more and more recently. I started out saying i preferred brotherly love, but a big of snogging is never a bad thing, and recently on one of my shows there was a slightly slashy scene (which i shall Lj about no doubt) and i was all "whoop!". so i figured it was time to admit the slasher in me. but always a whumper first.
i love studying too, books are so much fun. i'm in my second day of trying to fit three hours in after a full days work, but its proving to be okay! it's an interesting subject so it doesn't tire me too much. secon year at uni is always cool, you're settled but you're not rushed or panicked. i loved my second year, which is more than can be said for my first or last year at uni ::grumps::
