Jul. 29th, 2008 08:31 pmFor the record, the circled head is me in line for the Continuum premiere in San Diego. It's the back of my head LOL, but I can recognize it and my friend. [from Gateworld.com]

Carter

Teal'c and Cam

Brad Wright and Martin Wood

Jack O'Neill

Daniel Jackson and Dr. Lam
I'm actually about to watch it again. I had my dad buy it for me while I was at work so I might come back and do a more thorough review later. In fact, I'm not going to call it a review. These are just some of my thoughts on the movie.
* I'm kinda sad to see Ba'al go, and with it the end of an era.
* I still get pissed off when something happens to Jack (which it did) and they cut to a close-up of Carter's face like she's the only one who cares about him. 1) I thought she moved on from that shit and 2) Teal'c and Jack are like brothers and Jack and Daniel are BEST FRIENDS. But, oh, that's right! Only Carter actually cares if Jack dies. *mumble* That really pisses me off *mumble*
* As soon as I heard the captain speak, I turned to my friend and said 'That's Cam!'
* God, Daniel is always getting hurt and/or dying. And this time, he's left on his own in the middle of fucking freezing nowhere for who knows how long with a leg he'll probably lose, and all he can do is think about how he might not make it out of this one and how his BEST FRIEND just died.
* But even more upsetting than that (to me at least) was when Daniel was shocked to see alternate!Jack, said his name, and alt!Jack said nothing. Jack and Daniel say each other's names usually a couple times a conversation. In fact, sometimes it's all they say. And here is Daniel, about to lose his leg, lost his best friend, is stuck somewhere he doesn't belong, he sees his supposedly dead best friend quite alive but not quite him. Basically, when Daniel said 'Jack,' but alt!Jack didn't say 'Daniel' back, my heart broke. I wasn't even thinking about it. It just hurt. A lot.
* It's easy to see from our point of view that things are wrong, but alt!Landry has a very good point. Who are we to say that our reality is any more important or 'real' than any other?
* Shallow moment #1: I might have found Daniel swearing just a little hot. Just a little.
* Daniel going into the bookstore, finding a book he wrote 70% off, calling himself to say that he believes him and that alt!Daniel should believe in himself more too broke my heart. Again. Dammit, Daniel. Stop that.
* It was great seeing Paul Davis, Apophis, Hammond <3, Walter, Siler, and everybody there.
* Everybody freakin dies. Daniel dies first. At least this time, they all get it (except Cam, so the original team). Technically I guess Daniel dies second, but out of the people in the alt!universe, he dies first. After alt!Sam, but she died before we ever got there so she doesn't count. Anyway... Daniel needs to stop dying.
* But it all works out in the end! Of course it does. Not always, but most of the time it does. Still, good movie. I enjoyed it more that The Ark of Truth but that was because I was done with the Ori. The Goa'uld are so much more fun. And dramatic.
* Oh yeah, Ba'al with the cell phone? Amazing ^_^
* As was what Daniel said in Russian and his getting into a verbal slap fight with the Russian kid XD
So that's all I remember for now. Gonna go watch it again and all the special features. And then I have to catch up with the latest episode of SGA and The Middleman.
P.S. Has anybody else watched the trailer for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince? Are they using Stargate music in the background? Or is it just me?

Date: 2008-07-30 02:32 pm (UTC)I've heard Stargate music in the early trailers of a lot of films. I always point it out and annoy my fellow viewers :-P

Date: 2008-07-30 03:45 pm (UTC)I love the music from Stargate and it's always fun recognizing something in other things. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that David Arnold also did the music for Hot Fuzz ^_^

Date: 2008-07-30 07:07 pm (UTC)I KNOW!!!! They even say the whole 'I'm the closest thing you have to a best friend' line (which totally made me melt, btw), and just guch. It's annoying. THEY ALL CARE, not just Carter (but Daniel most, cos they're both in love, ktnx).
Still so incredibly jealous you got to go the the premiere!
