well, technically i think it was just a lot of hail. it started storming pretty bad tonight. you know how you can tell how far away the lightening is by how long it takes to hear the thunder? well, there was no time in between. thunder and lightening at once. it lit up the whole sky and it was right above our heads. the scariest part though was that we've had lightening before but it has never shaken the building. i happened to be looking outside my window (with my hands on the window sill) when it hit and i felt my whole room shake and a deafening sound. my heart was beating insanely. i even called my friend in San Francisco to freak out to her ^_^ anyhoo, i had already been outside (in flip-flops btw- i couldn't feel my toes when i came back inside) catching the hail. but while i was watching the lightening, i thought the ground looked weird, so i decided to go back out to investigate- i was bored. i step outside and my feet sink into a layer of snow. so i run back into my dorm to get my camera and i take a ridiculous amount of pictures. snow might not be special to some people but this is SANTA CRUZ!!! o_0 good god, everyone was outside playing (and screaming every time the thunder sounded- we are in an area with really tall trees) and some still are actually... anyhoo, here are a few pictures:

Wow! I'm a fair bit further north than you, but we had the exact same weather -- thunder, lightning, and major hail! I wish I'd taken pictures, but my digital camera doesn't take good pictures in the dark. :-(

this seemed to be a really big storm. crazy weather everywhere ^_^ i'm surprised my pictures came out as well as they did. as long as i focused on the snow, the light reflected off of it, but i couldn't take pictures of all the snow in the distance :(

i know! i've seen plenty of hail, but nothing that looked like snow where people could actually make snowmen and snow angels. i'm glad i decided to stay on campus this weekend =)

Pretty pics but oh god, the last time it snowed here (last month) we got 18in, so back away foul snowy evilness! Away!

wow. yeah, i've only ever seen snow 3 times and twice i had to go to the snow. everyone was going crazy last night =) i know we're not southern California, but still, Santa Cruz! i just had to take a ridiculous amount of pictures ;)

Wasn't complaining though. I hate it when it's cold but there's no snow. There's no point if there's no snow.
