1. What did you do in 2009 that you’d never done before?
I had surgery.

2. Did you keep your new year’s resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I don't really do resolutions, but this year I plan on making a couple.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Two of my closest friends had baby girls.

4. Did anyone close to you die?
The grandmother of one of my best friends passed away.

5. What countries did you visit?
None this year :(

6. What would you like to have in 2010 that you lacked in 2009?
Money, a place of my own, a job that doesn't make me have panic attacks and pays me more than minimum wage.

7. What dates from 2009 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
I gotta tell ya, nothing is etched upon my memory. I am so bad when it comes to that. I know important events, but I couldn't tell you when they happened. Which is why I kind of hate these things. I never feel like I can really answer the questions because I don't remember what happened this year.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Not killing myself. Not really, but it's a wonder I've lasted this long in the situation I'm in. At least, that's what everyone keeps telling me.

9. What was your biggest failure?
A lot of things. I don't feel like I've done the best I could have at being an assistant manager. I was only working in retail for like 2 1/2 months before I was promoted and sometimes I just feel overwhelmed. I didn't even want it, I just wanted a full-time job and benefits. Little did I know just how much I'd need those.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
I had my gallbladder removed because I had stones and was in tremendous pain.

11. What was the best thing you bought?
My new laptop, Nakatsu. The computer my brother gave me died and I lasted less than a week before I caved and spent most of my savings.

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
Not mine, that's for sure.

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
My mother's.

14. Where did most of your money go?
Bills, student loans, and clothes.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
I can't remember now. Ummm... Toma's new dramas. Toma's movies. Star Trek. The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day. Not a whole lot to look forward to in RL I'm afraid. Well, my friends giving birth. That was crazy.

16. What song will always remind you of 2009?
'Paranoid' Jonas Brothers; 'Bad Romance' Lady Gaga (anything by her really); and more I just can't remember the names of.

17. Compared to this time last year, are you: (a) happier or sadder? (b) thinner or fatter? (c) richer or poorer?
Sadder, I think. Last year I went to Europe and I saw the Mighty Boosh live in Edinburgh. This year I'm working practically all the time for very little money, living at home, and generally worried about RL. I'm thinner, at least somewhat, thanks in part to my gallbladder problems. I just stopped eating for a while there. I guess I'm richer, but that's only because I'm working and I haven't spent all my $ on a trip to the UK.

18. What do you wish you’d done more of?
Saved money.

19. What do you wish you’d done less of?
Crying.

20. How did you spend Christmas?
I'm planning on seeing Sherlock Holmes with my friend. Opening gifts with mom and brother. Watching Merry Christmas, Drake & Josh. Sleeping, since I work the day before and the day after.

21. Did you fall in love in 2009?
Not in real life, no.

22. What was your favorite TV program?
I hate these questions the most. I always forget just how much has happened in a year. I'm only going to mention NEW shows (or shows I had never watched before). That is, if I can remember them all. White Collar, One Fine Day, Maou, Akihabara@Deep, Community, Coffee Prince, Soul Eater, JONAS, Defying Gravity (maybe not the best, but I needed to know what was going to happen), Storm Chasers, and that's all I can remember. Some others that I liked, but weren't my favorites. And some favorites that just weren't new.

23. Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year?
No more than usual. Well, maybe a couple of our higher ups, but I don't 'hate' hate them.

24. What was the best book you read?
I don't read enough to be able to answer this. I still love the Dresden series, and I read 'No Longer Human' because Toma's going to be in the movie adaptation. It was good. Depressing, but good.

25. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Jonas Brothers, LOL. Also, Lady Gaga, Adam Lambert, as well as Jpop and Kpop in general.

26. What did you want and get?
A new laptop, a new digital camera, some DVDs.

27. What did you want and not get?
A new TV, money, a room of my own.

28. What was your favorite film of this year?
Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day

29. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
What did I do? Well, I turned 24. My coworkers got me presents and a cake the day before. On the actual day, I went to lunch with my friend, I ordered pizza for dinner, and my mom got me a cake. The next day I had a Dr appointment because I was still coughing and then I went to dinner with my dad, stepmom and sister.

30. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Not living at home and having a job that paid more than minimum wage. I cheated. Either of those would help a GREAT deal.

31. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2009?
Well, it's gotten better. I'm still jeans and t-shirt, but I had to start being more aware of fashion and whatnot working in retail and being a manager. Unfortunately that means I've spent a good portion of my paycheck on clothes.

32. What kept you sane?
The internet, TV, fandom. The usual. Which is why it was worth it to spend so much on a laptop. I needed to have access to all of these things and from my bed since I don't have a room where I can be up all night and not have it bother anyone.

33. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?

34. What political issue stirred you the most?
I don't even want to go there.

35. Who did you miss?
My friends (most have moved away and seem to have actual lives). My life in Santa Cruz. My sister and dad.

36. Who was the best new person you met?
I didn't really meet anybody this year. I'm going to cheat and say my boss, because while I actually met her in Nov '08, I really got to know her and become friends with her this year.

37. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2009.
Don't think I really learned anything this year. Mostly everything was just reinforced. I feel like I'm starting to learn something, but that'll be for next year.
