"Burke knows Caffrey better than anyone."
I was quite peeved at Peter for seeming to jump to conclusions so quickly about Neal being guilty. It did make for some lovely pleading looks and professions oflove innocence from Neal though.
I loved how Neal seemed more concerned with proving to Peter that he didn't let him down rather than proving he was innocent.
I LOVED Peter's proud/fond smile at seeing Neal's escape and how he didn't move a damn muscle to go after him. And Peter telling people the exact opposite of what to do in order to catch Neal.
Neal calling Elizabeth for help was brilliant. And her distracting the guys with milk and cookies and conversation. I love that her and Neal have a friendship as well, and she's not just Peter's wife.
I feel like I should, even though I kept hoping it wasn't going to go that way, BUT I DID NOT SEE THE END COMING. WHERE ARE THEY GOING WITH THIS?! Peter better be doing this out of love or something. I need motives and I need them now!
And something else I thought about last night, but then forgot about in everything else: Did Neal have everyone's records checked except Peter? I know he seemed surprised Mozz checked on um... whatsherface, but that was in a 'I-don't-think-she's-capable-enough-to-pull-all-this-off' kind of way. It didn't even cross his mind that Peter could be involved. Which is why when that other guy tells Neal that they weren't spying on him, the LOOK on Neal's face when he realizes just what that means, breaks my heart.
