Asked about the upcoming Stargate: Atlantis two-episode arc in which Michael guest stars, David responded:
"Who? Oh, Shanky! Michael Shanks and I should never ever be put in an episode together.
(laughter)
Because firstly, you don’t understand a word we're saying. Secondly, we don’t say the words they give us. ... Yes, I think it's no mystery that Shanks is back, and the first thing I... I did one day of shooting with Shanks and I went to Mallozzi, who was like down in the corner with his video camera, and - doing his blog - and um, and I said "Can we have Shanks every day?" He said, "he's very expensive."
(laughter)
I was like "it's worth every penny!" Because, my God, that guy is unbelievable; and we just had way, way too much fun! And again, it's like, it is non stop talking, it’s like the script was... they had to write, like, an extra, like 30 pages on this two-parter because we're talking... and they're just, like, "well we did the timing and no one can talk that fast so we... we just added, like, half an hour." So they go, "If you guys could slow it down it's actually a 4 hour movie."
(Lots more laughter)
David: In fact we solve everything. Tok'ra agents, you've got the whole thing... if you just slow it down to a speed you can hear what we're saying. [possibly - hard to hear this last bit over the laughter!]
(More laughter)
Audience member: May I just ask - I hope that it's a snark fest between Daniel and Rodney?
David: Oh my God, it's great! And he throws it back at you. Like, you're not expecting it. It's like, I'm used to Joe, who's like - (David mimes Joe Flanigan just giving him *the look*) - just waiting for you to finish talking.
(Much laughter)
David: Shanks... it's like you start to say your lines and he's already finished the scene...
(Loads of laughter)"
