I'm working on my final project/presentation for my Cult TV class. This consists of me watching countless Boosh songvids on YouTube. I think I'm going to talk about RPS in the Boosh fandom and maybe show a Noel/Julian vid in class.

I'm going to miss college...

What exactly is The Mighty Boosh, anyway? They show it on either BBC Canada or BBC Kids, and I have no idea what it's about.

It's actually rather difficult to explain. It's a show that revolves around two friends, Vince and Howard, and all the crazy adventures/troubles they get into. Their friends include a shaman, Naboo, and his familiar, an ape named Bollo.

The first series takes place in a zoo, where Vince and Howard are zookeepers, and adventures include having to escape Monkey Hell or going to the Arctic Tundra to find the Egg of Mantumbi. Further adventures (from other series) include Howard being kidnapped by a scaly man-fish who wants to marry him, or Howard having to be shrunk in order to be injected into Vince's body so he can destroy a corruptive rogue Jazz cell which is killing Vince (he's allergic to jazz).

There's much more to it, but it's a whole universe all on its own and a little difficult to describe. Many people call it 'surreal.' If you can/want to, whole episodes are available on YouTube under different spellings such as 'Mitey Bush.'

I'm not entirely sure what your degree is in, but I want to do it too! Any educational system that requires presenting The Boosh and RPS sound like my kind of thing!!

My degree is in Anthropology/Archaeology, but since I was done with all my Gen Ed classes and major requirements I decided to take fun classes this quarter. TV, Dinosaurs, and Stars/Space. I love it ^_^

Although if you do Cultural Anthro, you can pretty much write about anything. I wrote my senior thesis paper on Star Trek fandom. And it's great writing about this stuff with an insider's knowledge =D

A Cult TV class sounds too awesome for words, and well, it has to be if it offers legit reasons to watch Boosh. Not that reasons are usually needed of course!

I once had to go and sample much alcohol in the name of research for some uni project. Good times.

Each class we watch at least one episode of whatever genre we're talking about that week. The only problem is that it's getting me into even more shows!

Good times, indeed :D

That sounds like amazing fun. I would love to be able to justify showing a noelian vid in class (especially since the projector would make it really big...mmm, big screen Boosh).

It is fun, but I'm also a little nervous. I tend to forget that not everyone has been exposed to this sort of thing and that what seems 'normal' to me, isn't for everyone else.

I can't wait to see the class's reaction. At least it's a small class and they seem pretty cool ^_^
