1. I won!!

2. Saw Inception today and really enjoyed it. Best parts? Music (not surprising with Hans Zimmer being involved) and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Everyone was really good though, and it was such a wonderful mind fuck of a movie.

3. !!!!!!!!!!!!!

And now I'm going to watch the first episode of Unubore Deka because my world could use a little more Toma.

The rest of this week and the beginning of the next are going to suuuuuuuuuuuuuck :/

This is my FB profile pic atm.
That is all.
Carry on.

PS Yes Man was actually kind of a cute movie.

What was I saying? Oh yeah! Doctor Who was quite hilarious. With a couple of touching moments thrown in for good measure. I don't really have the energy to say anything else, but it was a good one. However, now I'm a little preoccupied by the teaser for next week. Holy crap, that looks like a fun/mind fucker of an episode.

The other day, I got stopped at the mall by someone who works at a salon downtown asking me if I wanted to be a sort of hair model. I don't remember if I mentioned it before, but like a year ago I guess, I got stopped by someone from the same salon and at the same mall. Last time it was because they liked my hair cut (bob) but this time it was because they were looking for redheads and they liked my color. Made me smile.

Today I got my eyebrows done. Finally. I was trying to let them grow out because I had kind of over tweezed, but they were getting a little crazy there. And I love that the lady doing my eyebrows asked if I was Spanish. I am a little, but more Italian than that. And yes, I know I'm hairy :P

Today I also finally got to watch St Trinian's 2: The Legend of Fritton's Gold. It was a fun, cute movie. Not as good as the first, but it did have Colin Firth AND David Tennant so I can't really complain.

In movies:

Does it make me a horrible person if I cried more during I Love You Phillip Morris than I did while watching A Single Man? No, that would be silly. But it still feels slightly wrong.

Spoilers for both movies )

In television:

Doctor Who just keeps getting better and better! MORE spoilers )

In Real Life:

Nothing much. Working. Got to hang out with two of my friends last week. Trying not to think about my upcoming trip too much. I'm already having trouble sleeping and part of that is because of my anxiety over flying and being so far away from home.

You know what's not fun? Getting to leave work early only to go and get a Pap smear. I'm still having flashbacks.

At least I only worked 2 hours today, I REALLY liked my gyno, and I got to see a movie. Unfortunately that movie was Clash of the Titans, and it bored me. This coming from someone who loves mythologies, ancient cultures, and the Greek gods. I think it was the main actor. He's so dull. I didn't care about him or his plight at all. And I cry over spilled milk FCOL. There were some entertaining parts, but I just didn't really feel anything for the characters. So that was a bust.

After the movie I went to the burrito place next door to give it a try (it was good - better than El Faro, but the horchata was not so good) when the fire alarm went off. I thought something had burnt in the back, but when I left I noticed the alarms in all the surrounding restaurants were going off too, including the theater. I guess they're all connected. In a few minutes, the sidewalk was filled with everyone who had been in those buildings. Then the fire trucks arrived. I couldn't see any smoke, but I smelled something. I've had movies cut short by fire alarms, but I think this was the first time there was actually a fire. And my movie had ended only about 10 minutes before the alarm went off, so thank goodness for that timing.

Right now, I'm currently reading The Carnivorous Lamb and I can't stop reading it. I heard about it through the [livejournal.com profile] pra_sempre community so I picked it up for the obvious reasons, but it's a really compelling and beautiful read (so far; I'm about 100 pages in). I see so much of my mother in their mother. Some obvious differences, of course, but that aspect still hits a little too close to home.

From Amazon:
The latest in the Little Sister’s Classics series resurrecting gay and lesbian literary gems: a viciously funny, shocking yet ultimately moving 1975 novel, an allegory of Franco’s Spain, about a young gay man (the self-described “carnivorous lamb”) coming of age with a mother who despises him, a father who ignores him, and a brother who loves him.

Author Agustin Gomez-Arcos left his native Spain for France in the 1960s to escape its censorship policies. The Carnivorous Lamb, originally written in French, won the Prix Hermes, and this, its 1984 English translation, was widely acclaimed.

Also in the world, this happened: )

Trailer at the movie's official website; link's up in the top right corner.

As excited I am for Ningen Shikkaku and it being his first movie and all, I think I'm even more excited for his other two movies this year.
spacemonkeyluvn: (holmes:: Watson <3)
This is my first full day off in like two weeks. So I ordered a pizza and I'm watching movies. I am not leaving the house for any reason. I just finished Post Grad and while I thought it might make me kind of depressed about my own situation, it's mostly just boring and predictable. Now I'm going to make some tea and watch Whiteout because I'm in the mood for bad movies, apparently. After that, it'll be Relative Values because Colin Firth and Stephen Fry!

PS:

PPS: Anyone else think Mika's Dr. John sounds rather movieverse!Holmes/Watson, albeit a bit cracky.

I look for joy in a strange place
From the back of the bar
From afar
I see the look on my mama’s face
When her son's in the corner, undone

She says that my life is over
"Boy, you don't know what you got till it's gone
Come put your head upon my shoulder"
She gave me her hand, but I ignored her

Oh, Dr. John
What am I doing
What am I doing I wrong?
Cuz I keep on trying
Something ain't going
Something ain't going on
Oh, Dr. John

I'm in trouble, you guys.

I finally got to watch Sherlock Holmes with my friend today and I went in knowing I'd be all over Holmes/Watson. That's just a given. However, I had no idea just how intrigued I'd be with RDJ/Jude Law *headdesk*

Let me first say that I actually really enjoyed the movie. I was worried because it didn't look like the Holmes I had known. But you know what? It worked. And I'll say, for me at least, it worked better than the Star Trek reboot. That movie was enjoyable, but in changing the relationship between Kirk and Spock (and Bones), they turned it into something I didn't recognize as Star Trek. The new SH movie might have amped up the action, but I felt like they kept the core of the Holmes/Watson relationship intact. And that's what it's all about in the end. The Holmes/Watson interaction reminded me of House/Wilson so much, not like that's a surprise or anything though. I loved it ♥ Holmes and Watson were already a pair, but add Hollywood's newfound love of 'bromance' and you got yourself a winner.

But back to the problem, RPS. *sigh* You try not to fall for them when they have interviews like this, this, or this (just to point out a few). They're just so... giggly around each other <3

Also, I think watching Dorian Gray last night and then Sherlock Holmes today has kind of messed up my subconscious.

Holy crap

Merry Christmas to me!

The only thing better would be if the movie was actually released today.

I'm so proud of him. He looks like a real, proper actor. Which he is, but Jdramas aren't necessarily the best way to show that off. 2010 will be a fantastic year full of Toma goodness. At least 3 movies and hopefully another drama or two. Waiting for subs is going to be the death of me though.
