Thanksgiving weekend

i want to start eating the chocolates from my advent calendar now, but it's not december yet :( but i guess that's a good thing- i have a 5-6 page paper due on the first and i'm so not looking forward to writing it... so what did i do for thanksgiving? let's see. i helped my mom make dinner- turkey is not very popular with my family, but my mom insisted on making one just so she could say she did. it actually wasn't too bad. i just don't care for the taste of turkey. love everything else though. it was a simple dinner with just my mom, grandma and myself. my brother was at his friend's house. we don't make holidays into big deals at my house, except christmas and sometimes birthdays. overall, nice day. good food, i got to see my grandma, and i read more of Life with Jeeves. (i've seen 4 episodes of the show, read quite a few of the short stories and i'm completely obsessed right now. sometime this week, i'm ordering the series on DVD so i can watch it over christmas break :)

on friday ('Gazpacho Soup' Day), i decided to be brave and went shopping with my friend. i got my mom Star Wars: III and a little something for my brother. also, my friend, Lexis, thought of an idea. this year, in my group of friends, instead of buying each other gifts, we are buying ourselves gifts in the name of our friends. this way, if we see something we like, we can just buy it for ourselves then instead of having to tell them about it. also, we don't have to worry about how much to spend or anything like that. and we can justify buying ourselves whatever we want, because you could swear you would have spent that much on your friends :) so i bought myself a mid-thigh length coat. it's so soft ^_^ mmmm....

then on saturday, we went out with my friend Lexis again and we met up with our high-school friend Kate. i had starbucks, ate breakfast at IHOP, went shopping again- but i was proud of myself- i didn't buy anything. i had spent enough on friday. next i had starbucks again and we rented a movie to watch at her house, Be Cool. it was funny but kind of slow. it was only 2 hrs long, but it felt like much longer. i kept waiting for someone to get shot =) then we went out for chinese and i went home. today, my mom drove me back to santa cruz.

*yawn* i really don't want to do my homework right now... maybe i'll make some more icons- i don't have a christmas one yet- or read more of Life with Jeeves. when they argue over Bertie's clothes, they are so adorable! XD let's see, before i go (it'll be monday in less than half an hour, so i'll round up): 43 days until Red Dwarf VII and 39 days until Jan. 6- aka 'International Be a Hologram Day'! get your H's ready folks!!

My mom has always loved P.G .Wodehouse, and she's tried to make me read them since forever. I think it's great that people are still reading them, especially young people, but I worry about the conversations she and I would have if I started reading the Jeeves and Wooster books now.

Mom: "That's great, why'd you decided to finally read them?"
Me (mumbling): "For the subtext..."

Wodehouse is so fun to read. I've read 4 books in a week and I want more ^_^ It was fun to finally find out who the Jeeves fella from Ask Jeeves was. Right now, I'm trying to get all my friends to read him. Something other than watching MTV all day. It is so difficult to talk to my family about my interests and fandoms without mentioning slash. One of the reasons I like LJ so much. Yay fandoms!

I wonder how that conversation would go with my mom..... XD

so wat did I get you jess?? well it sounds like you had a good weekend WITHOUT me....but wateva....jk..i know you really wanted me there. But that's what i get now that i work...dammit! Well yea if you didnt think more could happen to me....theres more drama! im sooo torn. That's wat I have you for :)...expect a call later tonite or tomorrow ok? Luv u!

actually, you haven't gotten me anything yet. but i think you're going to get me Jeeves & Wooster on DVD. after all, you're very generous ;) oh! and then i can make you watch it!! yay ^_^

that's not true. i could never have a good weekend without you =D and i wish i had a job. now that i know where you work i can bug you.
