How To Train Your Sherlock
Feb. 20th, 2011 05:40 amFor the
holmesverse mini!bang challenge:
Pick 2 things. At least one of the two things must be directly related to Sherlock. The second can be Sherlock-related, but doesn’t have to be. You can pick 2 characters, actors, TV series, incarnations of Sherlock, episodes, whatever you want.
Your challenge is to compare and contrast these 2 things through some means.

John = Hiccup
Sherlock = Toothless (aka Night Fury)

Hiccup is not like the other Vikings and he is an outcast amongst his own people. Especially when he is compared to his father, the village leader, Hiccup just doesn't fit in. John has come back from the war a changed man. He is finding it difficult adjusting to civilian life after what he's been through.

John is a sturdy and capable individual but since he's come back from the war, he's been a bit off. However, when danger is involved, when John's under pressure, when Sherlock's life is on the line, he's steady as a rock. Hiccup is still young and he's clumsy and awkward, yet somehow he is able to shoot down a Night Fury. At this point, John has known Sherlock for a very short time, yet he is already willing to kill to protect him. On the other hand, Hiccup and Toothless meet because Hiccup was originally trying to kill the dragon.

John and Hiccup are both left handed and even though John uses a blog as his journal, they both love to write about the same subject - their new BFFs.

Their new BFFs - Sherlock and Toothless. Strange, beautiful, and completely alien. Both apparently all alone and very cautious and wary of other human beings.

These are friendships that never should have happened. Hiccup was raised to kill dragons like Toothless, and John was warned that Sherlock was a psychopath.

But instead of the expected 'normal' reaction to meeting Sherlock and Toothless, John and Hiccup manage to surprise them.

Sherlock and Toothless then completely turn John and Hiccup's worlds upside down. Sherlock proceeds to tell John all about himself, a man he's never met before, and then suggests they go look at a flat together. And when given the chance, Toothless does not kill Hiccup, forcing Hiccup to question everything he's ever been taught about dragons.

Something John and Hiccup learn early on, Sherlock and Toothless don't really get along with others.

They're not particularly fond of any female the other seems to like either.

They like to show off and have all of John and Hiccup's attention for themselves. They also both tend to be rather dramatic. And petulant.

Yet somehow...

they become the best of friends.
