I'm back from my 4 day birthday weekend. Just came back from San Jose, where my dad lives. It was nice to spend more than just a day with them. Of course, tomorrow and the next day I work from 9am-8:30pm so not really looking forward to that.
But I had a good weekend. I took the train to San Jose on Saturday. I love the train. I can just sit back and listen to my iPod, read, or this time I watched an episode of QI on my laptop. Got to SJ where I met up with my dad, sister, and friend who had taken the bus from Santa Cruz. We end up going to Target for a bit where I start to sing 'Do De Rubber Duck' and somehow guilt my father into buying this for me. From there, we went to Red Robbin. They had the waiters/waitresses bring me ice cream and sing. *facepalm* I had flashbacks to my 16th birthday when I had dinner at Red Robin with my friends and my mom hired an Austin Powers impersonator to come and sing/make me dance/embarrass me to death. After dinner there was cake. And presents. They got me the first season of Community on DVD, a book about how to survive the garden gnome uprising, and an Amazon.com gift certificate. I actually just preordered Sherlock and Doctor Who. Now I just have to sit back and wait for November...
Sunday, my friend and I got up late (we had stayed up late watching Would I Lie To You? and Sherlock) so our first meal was lunch from one of my favorite burrito places, Burrito Azteca. Then, since we didn't have any real plans or things we wanted to do, we just hung out at the house with my sister watching those reality shows on TLC (my sister LOVES those) and more Would I Lie To You?. For dinner we made our own pizzas. We didn't make the dough, but we did have to roll it out and there were some interesting shapes. Turned out pretty good though. I put various toppings on different parts of the pizza so it was like having 5 pizzas in one! Anyway, it was tasty. We then watched The Amazing Race and some Seinfeld before everyone went to bed.
And Monday everyone but my friend and I had work and/or school, so we just bummed around for a while until my sister got out of school. And by the time my dad came home from school (he's a teacher), it was time to leave already. I watched the newest Merlin on the train.
Oh, I also found out that my dad and stepmother had put some money away for my brother and me and now that I'm 25, the account is officially in my name (and when my bro turns 25, his account will be under his name). I hate my job and want to start looking elsewhere, I need a car (and to practice my driving), I want to start saving for retirement, I want to pay off my student loans, I want to travel. I now have enough money to do at least a couple of these things. I'm trying to remind myself that even if I'll never be an adult, I do have to be somewhat responsible. So I'm trying to think what I want to do with that money and what I want to do with my life.
