info about me

What should I call you? Jessica or Spacemonkeyluvn (I pretty much think of myself as Spacemonkeyluvn now anyway)
How old are you? 22
Where do you live? Varies. My mom, brother and grandma live in Daly City, California. My dad, sister and stepmom live in San Jose. And I go to school in Santa Cruz.
What do you do with your time? I watch a lot of TV and whenever possible, I can be found online (usually reading fanfiction). Occasionally I'll leave my house to hang out with my friends and see a movie or something.
What are some things you like to talk about? Whatever I'm currently obsessed with. If I love it, I tend to try and spread the love. It doesn't always catch on ;)
What are some things you don't like to talk about? Not much. Oh, politics and philosophy. I am depressed enough of the time. Whenever possible, I'd like to talk about stuff that makes me happy, thank you very much ^_^
Anything else you think I should know about you? I'm not sure. I love slash, I love TV, I love fandoms, I'm a geek and if there is anything else, feel free to ask!
Can I see what you look like? Sure, why not.
So I'm going to have to be boring and ask for your thoughts on yaoi. ;D

I'm going to assume you're talking about slash in general and not specifically in the the anime fandoms. I only ask, because that's what I know it as (and I don't watch anime). As for my thoughts on it, well, I approve ;) I didn't start out being a 'slasher.' In my first fandoms, I was a shipper (Mulder/Scully, Quinn/Maggie, etc.) I did have a (possibly unhealthy) obsession with guys that were really close friends though =D I think my first slash OTP was Frodo/Sam, followed quickly by my realization that Jack and Daniel were more than just friends <3 I don't slash everybody I see. They have to have some chemistry or something that makes them getting together plausible/realistic. I do view the world through my slash goggles though. Personally, I think it makes life more fun ;)
I'd love to hear about where you live. :)

I'm not sure which place to talk about. I guess I'll discuss Santa Cruz, since that's where I spend most of my time during the school year.
I really like Santa Cruz. It's a rather small town, but big enough that I don't feel like I'm in the middle on nowhere. It's a weird town. Just the way I like it. Of course, I might be biased talking about how nice it is to live there because I live in an apartment downtown. I'm on the main street where all the shops, restaurants, movie theaters, and bookstores/coffee shops are; I'm five blocks from the beach; And I'm less than a block from the Metro station which means I'm first to get on the bus, I can take any to campus or back, and if I fall asleep, I won't miss my stop.
And the University of California Santa Cruz has a wonderful campus. It's pretty big and nicely spaced out. From many of the colleges/dining halls, you can see the ocean. The rest of the campus is covered in trees. On a nice day, it's beautiful and I like to get myself an iced coffee and just hang out somewhere (either that or I'll spend hours in the computer lab).
I think I'll actually miss the easy going life style that is Santa Cruz. Although I like the city (San Francisco), I don't really take advantage of everything it has to offer. Not like I do with Santa Cruz. It's all so much closer, easier, and more calm than SF. After writing all that, I'm not sure I want to move back after I graduate :P
Um... how about you tell me about your pairings!
![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
I'm not sure what to say about them. I love them ;)
When it comes to most of them, I have really strong feelings about them. I like to think I'm open-minded about stuff, but my OTPs are just that. They belong with each other and nobody else. That doesn't mean I go starting flame wars or anything. I don't like to bash other characters (and most definitely not other fans). I have my opinions and I'll share them, but there's no point in arguing. Some people will never see your side, just like you may never see their's. That's life. No point in fighting about it.
But I do feel defensive when it comes to my OTPs. I won't argue, but I'll rant about it to my RL friends. Poor friends ;D
I'm also a romantic at heart (despite being a rather bitter 22 year old). I know it doesn't work that way, but I like to believe in Happy Endings. And my OTPs make me cry like nothing else. I won't mention times or pairings, but I've cried myself to sleep for weeks at a time on occasion. I'm just cool like that.
As for specific pairings, I don't think I have the energy to discuss them all. I will say that Jack/Daniel from Stargate SG-1 is my OTP of OTPs. Kirk/Spock from Star Trek:TOS is like the epitome of slash (for obvious reasons). They are soulmates in the truest sense of the word. Jack/Ianto from Torchwood is my newest obsession (well, most current because it's new right now). Mulder/Scully from The X-Files is one of my oldest and truest OTPs. I can't wait until the new movie and everything that will come from that. But if there are other pairings you want to know about, feel free to ask! Oh and Peter/Nathan is going to come back with a vengeance when Heroes returns.
OK, last thing I swear. I don't really go for RPS/RPF, but when I do, it seems to be in the form on comedy duos. I think the epitome of real life pairings are Julian Barratt/Noel Fielding and Nick Frost/Simon Pegg.
