~ Chris Carter (I had to shorten the quote to make it fit in the subject line. It says "Writing the names Mulder and Scully, which I hadn’t written for 6 years, was the most natural keyboard stroke you could imagine.”)

I've been in this computer lab for the past 4 or so hours and I haven't even started on the presentation I have on Wednesday. Instead I've been checking my flist (which somehow got to 680 back entries - I didn't think I've been away that long) and reading reports on WonderCon as well as looking at people's pictures and watching clips on YouTube.

It was so much fun! I can't even describe it. I didn't realize just how much I've missed The X-Files until yesterday.

Casey picked me up a little after 9am. We drove into the city, got bus money at her house, took the bus to the center and walked a couple blocks in the rain. We got to the con around 11am and it took us about half an hour to get inside. Thankfully, we had at least already bought our tickets online. We got our badges and went inside. We walked quickly around the outer tables and got any free stuff we could, but soon headed towards Hall A. The line was pretty damn long, but it was only noon. I asked one of the guys working there when we should get in line for the X-Files thing and he said now would be good. Most of the people going in for the other panels might stay, whatever, so we did.

At first we were way in the back and off to the side. Although we were there for David and Gillian, it was pretty cool to see Roland Emmerich (Stargate!!!! Although I'm so not seeing 10,000 BC. As an anthropologist/archaeologist in training, it hurts my soul), Anne Hathaway, Steve Carell, and although I'm not going to see Shutter either, it was really cool to see James Kyson Lee (Ando!!) who said that Heroes is coming back. From what we got to see, Wall•E looks really good. It'll probably make me cry a couple times, but still definitely seeing it. Also, they're going to be making Toy Story 3 and it'll be in 3-D.

By the time it was time for the X-Files panel, Casey and I had moved up quite a bit and now had a better view of a screen and the table (I could actually identify faces!)

It was pretty damn hilarious - The audience was cheering and screaming every time they put down a name tag ^_^ Needless to say, we were all really excited. Before they came out though, they showed a 'trailer' for the new movie. Once we realized what it was, the room got really quiet. That is, until we saw Mulder and Scully for the first time. I'm sure you've seen it by now, but what we saw:

It was surreal seeing them come out and be here at the same time, both them being at a convention together, and also me being in the same room as them. I've been watching The X-Files for years now. It was my first fandom and Mulder and Scully are my first OTP <3

Gillian looks so pretty. My friend wasn't a huge fan of her new longer hair, but I kind of like it. Yeah, it's different, but the movie takes place, what, six years after the series ended. Not to mention, Scully has had so many different hair cuts and colors over the years you can identify what season of the show it is based on her hair (and sometimes Mulder's). And David is just as gorgeous as ever =D

One thing I loved about this panel and this audience was that they had questions for all four of them, and not like with Get Smart where it was "What was it like working with Steve?"

I'm not going to repost all the questions and answers because I'll link to YouTube clips of them. I just want to say how adorable they are together and how much watching them interact reminded me of just how much I love that show and how much it has meant to me over the years. They were joking with each other, teasing each other (well, David teasing Gillian about how much she talks about her favorite episode "Bad Blood"), etc.

I loved how at the end, they were saying that seeing all of us there and so excited about the new movie made them really happy knowing there's still an audience out there for them. I love that they actually wanted to make this movie and that if it wasn't for them saying 'Let's do this now,' it might never have been made. And I love them even more for the fact that they had just been filming the day before, flew here from Canada, hadn't slept in like 24 hours, and yet here they were on their day off. It also made it feel sort of weird, knowing that they're still filming the movie.

I'm sure there's more I'd love to talk about, but at the moment I can't really remember (and I really have to eat and do this school work). I know that when asked whether we'd see Krycek again, Chris said that nobody stays dead on The X-Files. He also said that they're keeping a secret and we'll be glad they did <3 Oh, and Gillian thinks they should have worked in Mulder and auto-erotic asphyxiation XD

Oooh! And Mark Snow will be doing the score for the film <3

I took pictures with my camera phone, which I should have to post by tomorrow. We'll see. However, they will be nowhere as good as some of the ones already online, so for now I'll send you there to look.

Basically, have a look around [livejournal.com profile] xfiles ;D

After that, Casey and I didn't stay for much longer. We braved the rain once again, ate an early dinner at Chevy's, got on a bus going the wrong way, went backwards, got on the right bus, went to Walgreens where I bought bright red hair dye and hope to use it soon, saw a bit of the Chinese New Year's Parade, went back to her house where I borrowed season 2 of TXF, and drove back to Santa Cruz where I watched TXF all night and fell asleep. It was a good day.
