Frankenstein and Jtown

In happier news, I don't think I got to mention it before but I did see Frankenstein for a second time on Monday. This time with Benedict as the Creature. The two performances were both wonderful and I enjoyed both for very different reasons. But I will say that I preferred Benedict's Victor. In general, Benedict brought a lot more vulnerability to both roles. It's a powerful and fantastic play either way. And the music. Absolutely loved the music. And the set. And everything about it, really.

Since I spent about 7 hours in Japantown, I also took some pictures while I was there.

Pictures done this way since LJ won't let me insert an image within the entry atm )

Work was okay. I'm too tired to even talk about it though. I started getting a headache right around the time I was supposed to leave so that kind of sucked but at least I didn't have it all day. I'm not feeling very well though. Something is wrong with my body again. And between that and LJ still being fucked up, I'm just more stressed and depressed than before. I went from being in a good mood to worrying about what should be my happy place. I'm in the queue to have my LJ imported to Dreamwidth and instead of relaxing, I'm going to start going through my memories and scrapbook and download/save what I can before I have to go to sleep. I hate that I even have to think like that, but LJ is more than just casual to me and I don't know what I'd do if I lost everything.

I still have 11 DW invites so if you need one, just let me know! PM me your email and I'll send one your way :) Also, if you have a Dreamwidth account, can you link it to me? Or just come find me there. I'm Spacemonkeyluvn over there as well. I'm also Spacemonkeyluvn over on Twitter. And Warpedinside over at Tumblr.

Just got back from WonderCon! Met [ profile] sharkshark and another whose name I can't remember because I suck. But I had so much fun. For the Doctor Who panel, I was the closest I've ever been to the front. The panel featured Toby Haynes (director of 'The Pandorica Opens' 'The Big Bang' 'A Christmas Carol' and the 2-parter series premiere), Neil Gaiman, and Mark Sheppard (the guy who is in everything). It was moderated by Chris Hardwick. When we first entered the room, they gave everyone a Doctor Who Insider magazine and an awesome t-shirt (pictures are under the cut). There's a really good write up of the panel here (copy/pasted from io9) which I am linking to because I also suck at remember awesome details. There will be some spoilers though, so enter at your own risk. Including a hilariously awesome line from Neil Gaiman's episode =D It was great to hear from people who had not only worked on the show, but who are also huge fans of it as well. ♥♥♥♥♥♥

After the panel, [ profile] sharkshark and I met up with the other LJ person. While we were standing around the food area just talking, Toby Haynes walks by. [ profile] sharkshark stops him and asks for his autograph and he said that nobody's ever asked for it before ♥♥♥ I got him to sign my DWI magazine. I also ♥ him even more for doing that because at the panel he had mentioned that he was dyslexic. Ooooh! And not only has he directed some of the best DW episodes, but he's also going to be directing one of the new Sherlock eps as well!!

After that, we walked around a bit, but I had pretty much come just for the panel. There was a booth that had free sci-fi books though, so I picked three of them just for the hell of it. Around 2, I called my mom to get me. While I was waiting to get picked up ([ profile] sharkshark waited with me) a group of people walked past. One of the guys in the group looked my way, did a double take, and then all of a sudden ran towards me. We were wearing the same shirt so he was running up to give me a high five, LOL. I slapped his hand and he ran back to his group of friends. This was the shirt, btw.

So that's pretty much my story! I'm rubbish at con write-ups but if you have any questions I can answer to the best of my abilities ;P

Now I'm off to shower and maybe go to sleep early so I can get up and make my way over to Jtown for Frankenstein tomorrow. Oh, the other LJ person we met had gone yesterday as well, but they complained that we got the wrong showing so they refunded their tickets. Why don't I complain more often dammit! *facepalm*

Saturday > Friday

Went to see Frankenstein today. Wasn't sure how I was going to react, afraid I'd just be all 'Cumberbatch ♥_♥ *drool*' And I was actually slightly disappointed at first because on the site it said he was supposed to be the creature for my showing, but he wasn't. And it's true, I'd have loved to seem him as the creature, but the play itself was just so damn good. I don't really have any coherent thoughts so I don't think there will be spoilers. Just. Damn. That was quite an intense play. Brilliant performances. I must admit I've never read the original story, so all I have to compare it to are the movies which yeah... But I just, the ending was perfect and I went through so many emotions! I felt sorry for and hated pretty much everyone at one point. If you have a chance, go see it! I'm actually debating going back to Japantown on Monday just to see it again (hopefully this time with Benedict as the creature). It would require me to do a lot more public transportation than I'm used to (or comfortable with) but I think it would be worth it. It would cost me another $20 though :/

I must be crazy. I just bought myself another ticket for Monday's showing. I really wish they'd put this play (both versions) on DVD.

Tomorrow though I'm going to WonderCon for the Doctor Who panel.

Oh, and I got Mega Shark vs Giant Octopus on Blu-ray for $5. Win ;) I also had Oreos and Diet Coke Lime for dinner so I'm kind of like this now 0_0

TV taught me how to feel, now real life has no appeal.

I'm sure you're all just dying to know which stand mixer I chose.

*drum roll*

BUT Amazon is crazy and their prices fluctuate all the time so it was actually only $255.49 instead of the $285.79 it was just a couple days ago. Which means instead of almost $50 more than the cheapest one, I only paid about $16 more. Now I'm just hoping there isn't some crazy ass sale on it and I miss it by a couple days. Still, it could just as easily go up again and the sooner I get it, the sooner I can start using it. Just in case, I should probably never look at that product again.

Also, Hulu totally won April Fools this year. They've taken it down now, but when you went to their main page, it was 1996 again. Grainy pictures and everything. I took screencaps because I'm a loser, LOL.

The X-Files, Sliders, and NewsRadio )

PS I'm totally addicted to this right now. Both the vid and the song. Hell, I just bought the song from Amazon. That's saying something right there.

From here.

The best laid plans...

My brother went to his friend's last night to spend the weekend. My friend was going to come up from Santa Cruz later tonight.

I get up today to a million missed calls from my brother. He spent the night throwing up and mom had to go pick him up. It's bad enough that he's sick, but his friend is HIV positive and already in and out of hospitals.

After that I check my text messages. My friend had been having a bad and possibly allergic reaction to medication she's on. So she's at the college health center getting tests done and it's looking like she won't be able to come up. Not like it would be the best idea with everyone in this house being bloody sick anyway. Actually she just text me. The skin allergy test was negative so they gave her another oral dose and she reacted. So they're going to watch her and she has to go to the hospital to get shots 3 days in a row.

When my mom brought my brother home she also brought in the mail. I was turned down for unemployment. Not totally surprised, but still disappointed.

So that's my awesome Friday so far. I'm still hoping to go see Frankenstein tomorrow but at this point, who knows? I think I might just take a nap. My head is still killing me.

I used a hair removal cream for my face and I think I wiped it off too hard because the skin is raw and in paaaaaaaaiiiiiiiiin. I see bits of red and even tiny bits of blood on the ice pack I put on it. I think I rubbed the top layer of skin right off 0_o I put some Neosporin on the area because it has a numbing thing in it. So I think I'll stop using that cream! I've only used it maybe twice before and the results were never impressive anyway. I'll pay for waxing if I have to. Hey Zeus.

In better news, my friend should be coming down tomorrow night because we're seeing Frankenstein on Saturday. While she's here, I'm planning on making these Sloppy Buffalo Joes (OMGSOGOOD), these cupcakes because I effing love them, and these oatmeal chocolate chip pudding cookies which I've never made before but in all descriptions people say they're crack so they must be good! I was just browsing more recipes and I think I might make these for breakfast. So many ideas. So little time.

And I might be going to my dad's the weekend of 4/23 so my sister and I can have a Doctor Who party. We're going to watch the premiere and make cupcakes or something. I don't know yet. Red Velvet probably. My sister is addicted to that shit.

I don't even find any of them particularly attractive, but I looooove synchronized dancing. And Asian boybands/pop music in general. Not like you needed to know this. It's just that I'm trying to listen to this on Youtube while I do other stuff but I keep getting distracted by the video 0_0

I'll probably pimp again closer to the date. Come and play. It's fun :D

You're my only help.

Sometimes I'm such a Libra it's ridiculous. As always, when an important decision needs deciding, I come to y'all. While I look for jobs and such, I'm going to use a little of the money my dad gave me to buy a stand mixer so I can work on my baking skillz. That's right. Skills with a 'z'. Skillz. BUT I don't know which one to get. Well, that's not really true. I know exactly which one, I just don't know if I can rationalize paying almost $50 more for the color I want. After all, even if I still spend that money, but on something else, I could get way more than just a paint job for a stand mixer *headdesk* This is the mixer in question, btw.

*coughs up a lung*

I either have a bug or pretty bad allergies. My nose is plugged up so that I couldn't breathe last night. I finally passed out around 4/4.30am while watching Drake & Josh. I must have snored something fierce because my throat is all dry and scratchy and I can't stop doing the annoying dry throat cough :/ I'm drinking a lot of water but it's not helping. My mom did go out to get me Ricola cough drops and chicken soup though. That should help. Hopefully. It better! I have Frankenstein to watch this weekend. Although, as I'm writing this, my lungs are starting to hurt :/ In order to slightly amuse myself and to keep myself from dwelling too much on it, whenever I cough, I try to fake the Zoolander black lung cough.

I had a weird dream last night. It had Jack and Daniel as a couple but Jack was a Jack/Sherlock hybrid and Daniel was a Daniel/John hybrid. They looked like Jack and Daniel but they acted like a mix of them plus Sherlock and John. Whatever, Jack and Daniel were making out so I wasn't about to start complaining.

My brother was watching Enterprise earlier today and it was "In a Mirror, Darkly" but he had no idea what was going on, so I showed him "Mirror, Mirror" and he kept going 'Oh, I get it now! That must be what they were referencing.' It was amusing to watch :D

My Starfleet sweatshirt was shipped and expected delivery is April 6th!! Want it now, but I guess I can wait. Since I don't really have a choice :P

And that is all that is noteworthy, atm. I've been applying to jobs and I had my phone interview with unemployment so I guess I'll find out if I'm getting anything in about 10 days. What an exciting life I lead :P

Paul, abductions, and sleeeeeeep

Between seeing Paul yesterday afternoon and then watching a marathon of Fact or Faked: Paranormal Files on SyFy right before bed, I had some effed up dreams/nightmares last night. The kind where you wake up with a jolt and a bit of a yell at 3am and you can't go back to sleep because every time you close your eyes you feel like something's there. I swear I felt something touch my shoulder. And in case you didn't know, I've been fascinated and SCARED TO DEATH of aliens and abductions since I was a kid. While I don't think they'd really bother with most of the crap people claim they do, the thought of it all being real is enough to terrify me. The TNG episode where some of the crew gets abducted, sliced up, and put back together stills bothers me. YOU'RE ALREADY IN SPACE AND YOU'RE STILL GETTING ABDUCTED?! I have to turn the volume down whenever I hear that clicking noise. *shudder*

So about that movie, Paul... (spoilers within) )

Where was I going with this? Ummm... I laughed out loud quite a few times and was quite entertained. I look forward to adding this to my DVD collection when it comes out. Might even go see it in the theater again. I love their sense of humor and even though I felt like poop again as soon as the movie was over, for a couple hours I had a wonderful time :D

But I'm still feeling icky. Thankfully, I have new Community tonight and we have Dogma from Netflix. I still have a few other things I really need to do, but maybe I can squeeze them in tomorrow. I'm just not feeling the motivation today. It figures that the one night I actually go to sleep early because I'm so tired, I end up having nightmares about being abducted and barely get any sleep :/
