TV taught me how to feel, now real life has no appeal.

I'm sure you're all just dying to know which stand mixer I chose.

*drum roll*

THE ICE BLUE ONE!!!

BUT Amazon is crazy and their prices fluctuate all the time so it was actually only $255.49 instead of the $285.79 it was just a couple days ago. Which means instead of almost $50 more than the cheapest one, I only paid about $16 more. Now I'm just hoping there isn't some crazy ass sale on it and I miss it by a couple days. Still, it could just as easily go up again and the sooner I get it, the sooner I can start using it. Just in case, I should probably never look at that product again.

Also, Hulu totally won April Fools this year. They've taken it down now, but when you went to their main page, it was 1996 again. Grainy pictures and everything. I took screencaps because I'm a loser, LOL.

The X-Files, Sliders, and NewsRadio )

PS I'm totally addicted to this right now. Both the vid and the song. Hell, I just bought the song from Amazon. That's saying something right there.

an assortment of stuff

‎So the last couple of days have been a bit of an emotional rollercoaster for me. Mostly down though. So more like a plummeting emotional elevator? I don't have the energy to go into it now, but at the moment, things are... okay.

Got a new manager at work though and I'm a little anxious. Only worked with her once so far. She seems alright, but I just don't really know. We'll see how it plays out I guess.

White Collar was wonderful. Loved the ending (and the bit right before, especially). Not happy it's time for the midseason finale already though. Psych was hilarious. Shawn being a fanboy was adorable.

Merlin's starting up again soon. I look forward to the insanity ;)

And I'm currently enjoying Grandma's House. Normally I wouldn't really be into this sort of stuff - I get TERRIBLE second-hand embarrassment - but I love Simon Amstell. I love that he can't really act and he looks like he's going to bust out laughing at any moment. It's all just part of his charm. Here are a couple of my favorite quotes from the first episode. )

And in fandom collision news, in an interview with Benedict Cumberbatch (my brother actually asked me if that was his real name) here, he was asked who his favorite actors/actresses were and he responded:

Stephen Dillane, Mark Rylance, Simon Russell Beale, Eddie Redmayne, James McAvoy, Casey Affleck, Ryan Gosling, Jimmie Stewart, Adrian Scarborough, Harrison Ford, Marlon Brando, Jack Nicholson, Rod Steiger, Steve McQueen, Martin Sheen, Alison Janney, Sissey Spacek, Meryl Streep, Nancy Carroll, Juliette Binoche, Maggie Gylenhall, Amy Adams. There is an infinitely bigger list... God I hate lists!

Obviously I did the bolding there ;) But yeah. I don't know. That made me really happy. I 'know' that Ryan is a wonderful actor. I've seen it. And he was nominated for an Academy Award ffs. But I still see him as Sean Hanlon/Young Hercules. Either way, I'm proud of him.

And I'm proud of Toma! He is no longer considered a Jr. and now has his very own page

--------------

And for what it's worth: I won't be crossposting anything of mine or anyone else's to FB or Twitter. And while I doubt anyone would want to crosspost anything I've said, I'd rather you didn't. Right then. That's enough of that.

I'm slightly worried that my brain let me say that

I did fuck all today. It's not even funny. It's hot here (and of course I mean the Nor Cal version of 'hot') and is supposed to be even hotter tomorrow. Thankfully it should be cooling down after that. And there you have our 'summer', folks. Two days of temperatures in the 80s towards the end of August. Yet I still complain :P

Anyhoo, I had today off and I have tomorrow off. Unfortunately my mother is on vacation right now as well. The house is too small for everyone to be off all day at the same time. I didn't get up until after 11am and, as usual, I'm not quite sure how it's become this late without me doing anything. I watched the new Melissa & Joey as well as the new White Collar. Oh, and I watched a couple episodes of my newest addiction, Would I Lie to You? (And yes I know my icon is from QI. Another brilliant show.) I often find myself wishing America had shows like this, but then I realize that the guests (and host most likely) would be shit and terribly awkward to watch. So I thank the Internet Gods instead.

Tomorrow, I hope to be slightly more productive. I mean, I love doing nothing, but you end up feeling more tired and sluggish than before. I hope to be up at least a couple of hours before noon. I hope to maybe leave the house, even for a minute. I'd like to knock some things off my to-do list, no matter how small. I'd like to watch a couple movies because at this rate I'm not going to make 100 before the end of the year. I also want to start rereading the Sherlock Holmes stories along with the [livejournal.com profile] bakerstreaders :)

Speaking of Sherlock, it's definitely my newest obsession. I loved the stories when I was younger. I loved the TV series with Jeremy Brett (still one of my all time favorite adaptations). I thoroughly enjoyed the movie with RDJ and Jude Law. But something about this new series just calls to me. I love Doctor Who, but I don't have the need to really read fanfic and such for it. I love talking about it with fellow fans and trying to work out what's going on, but I haven't really enjoyed reading fanfic and being involved in that part of fandom for a while. I enjoyed Merlin like that for a bit. Torchwood, sort of. Probably not really since Stargate SG-1. I even had a dream where I could see Sherlock and John from the outside, like I was watching the show, but I was John. His thoughts were my thoughts. It was weird and felt very real. Alas, no sexyteims between the boys I'm afraid.

BTW, the world needs more Sherlock vids to Ke$ha songs. Just sayin'.

Ummmm...

Melissa & Joey was actually REALLY cute.

And funny.

Granted I love Melissa Joan Hart and I've been all nostalgic about 90s TV lately, but still. It's cheesy as hell, but I was laughing. Out loud.

TV goooood...

In less than 7 hours, it'll be the 20th in Japan and Toma's first movie will be officially open!!

Um... I'm trying not to dwell on possible bad things, and I want to get back into randomly updating my LJ with memes and crap. Anyhoo, stolen from [livejournal.com profile] rainbow_goddess: the TV on DVD meme!

I had more, but I've sold some shows over the years, like Smallville, Scrubs, Reba. And I have more X-Files, but on VHS. I still feel like I'm forgetting some... Also, I'm not including shows I've burned to disc or saved to my hard drives. That would be a MUCH longer list. And no movies. I don't think I could even name them all.

I had to work this morning even though it was supposed to be my day off. And I'll be working the rest of the week, New Year's Eve and Day included. Ugh. So Tired. And not feeling well (possible UTI). Plus, it's never really a picnic at home either. I could really do with like a week off in a row. And not just because I'm recovering from surgery. I should shower, but I don't want to get out of bed. It's not even 6pm and I'm ready to fall asleep. Except for the fact that my mother is playing Rock Band.

I saw some old high school friends the other day. We all had brunch together. It was nice to see them again, but it felt like that scene in Friends where I ordered one of the cheapest items because I'm poor, but we all ended up splitting the bill evenly. I wanted to say something, but we only do this like once a year, so I let it slide. Plus tip, I ended up spending about $22 for a waffle. It was a nice place, but fuck that. Next time, let's meet at IHOP or Denny's.

Doctor/Master audio clip from 'The End of Time, Part 2'. Is it Friday yet?! I don't know if I can take all this. I haven't really been talking about TV, even though I've been watching it, but I quite enjoyed 'The End of Time, Part 1.' It was cracky and ridiculous, but it worked. It's darker than normal, but give me Master/Doctor and I'm good with just about anything. I'm easy like that. I'm scared for Friday though. We already know how it ends, sort of, and I'm not sure I'm ready to see/experience that. I've already watched Part 1 at least twice, which is rare for me, so close together. Lately, the only thing I've been rewatching is White Collar. I also rewatched the latest ep of House because I'm craving the Holmes/Watson & House/Wilson dynamic ♥

Random bit: I noticed it while watching it the first time, but I really love the soundtrack to Sherlock Holmes.

Also, not my proudest moment, but this made me LOL: from http://nickjonasthinks.tumblr.com

Okay, this entry is all over the place and making little sense. I think it's time for a shower and nap.

They were performing this. Now they just need to perform this again. At least that opening bit ;) Or even this.

On a slightly related topic, I really need to rewatch both Maou and Coffee Prince. The first because holy crap, I love that show (spoilers for the finale), and the second because (as I've said before) a Gong Yoo in love is one of the most adorable things in existence.

Oh, and my boss gave me a $50 Target gift card for Christmas <3 A bunch of us from work went out to eat dinner tonight. The food was meh, but it was a nice time.

I've had a semi-crush on Gong Yoo ever since I saw him in Coffee Prince and now that I'm watching One Fine Day (thank you, Crunchyroll) that crush is coming back pretty hard. It'd be one thing if I just found him attractive (which I do, especially when he smiles), but he plays the best romantic leads ever. Granted I'm saying this after having only watched him in 1 series and 4 episodes of another series, but still. Watching him act like he's in love for about 5 seconds and I already want to marry him and have his children *facepalm*

I’m gonna love you with my hands tied

The Brothers Bloom was a great movie, but made me depressed. Pandorum was creepy and sort of reminded me of The Descent in space. Make the Yuletide Gay was a charming little movie that made me cry, but at least in a good way. But ever since I went and saw The Boondock Saints: All Saints Day, I can't get it out of my head.

It finally opened in the theatre by my house, but the only show is at 9pm. So one day after work, I asked my mom if she was willing to take me. She sort of agreed, but in the time between when we got home and when the movie was going to start, she had gotten angry and had fallen asleep. But I needed to see this movie. So at 8:30, I had to take the bus (it was freakin cold and dark), and by the time the movie got out, buses had stopped running so I had to take a taxi home. Worth it though.

Anyway, long story short, I'm reobsessed with the MacManus brothers.

But how about some links, eh?

If the Earth had rings - Holy crap, this is beautiful. And makes me slightly sad we don't actually have rings :( I'd love to watch them seem to grow/shrink as you flew across the world.

Preview for the next episode of Community. Okay, now I can't decide who I love more: Abed or Troy. I guess it's a good thing they come as a pair.

The trailer is up for St. Trinian's 2: The Legend of Fritton's Gold - LOL at Colin Firth for 'beauty' and "Some women are born great, like the Queen. Some become great, like Lady Gaga."

NEVER MIND THE BUZZCOCKS - Doctor Who special!!

And that's all I can remember right now. Work is getting crazy (thanks a lot, holidays) and I really need to start my Christmas shopping. I'll also be starting on my cards soon, so let me know IF YOU WANT A CHRISTMAS CARD FROM ME ;D

You know what? I think I'll end with this

Community was hilarious! It's one of the few shows I make sure to try and watch live. Abed as Batman was all kinds of awesome. And based on those little scenes at the end of episodes, I'm starting to think we're supposed to ship Abed and Troy. Or at least that's what I'm telling myself. Either way, they are freaking adorable.

Never Mind the Buzzcocks was also fantastic. I find myself falling in love with Noel more and more. And the fact that he mentioned E.T. and looking like Elliot made my little heart happy after this whole thing from a little while ago:

"We're still together," Julian Barratt added. "It's like we're twins, we're kind of symbiotically linked... if he drinks I get drunk. Like E.T. and Elliott."

Well, that and Noel mentioning Hobbits. That kind of made my day. (I'm easily amused.)

another day off, gone already :(

One of my favorite parts about Edgar, Nick, and Simon writing their own Hot Fuzz slash fic on Twitter (other than the WHOLE THING) is this comment on Edgar's blog: You realise this counts as canon to us now, right? That and the fact that Edgar ships Nick and Simon even more than they ship each other (@edgarwright @camposova I think the fact that I have out-slashed Pegg & Frost by 3 to 1 speaks volumes about me. Uh…) <3 <3 <3

OH! OH! And in Psych / House news, Television stars James Roday ("Psych"), Michael Weston ("House, M.D.") and Amanda Detmer ("Private Practice") will headline the world premiere of Gabe McKinley's Extinction in Los Angeles. The dark comedy centers on "College buddies Max (Weston) and Finn (Roday) [who] meet in Atlantic City, where they traditionally spend their vacations in the fast lane, religiously drinking, drugging and chasing women," according to an announcement. "But this time something is different, and thwarted expectations precipitate a dangerous showdown between the two friends."

Why can't I be in LA? *pouts*

Today there's new Community, The Jeff Dunham Show, and Milla Jovovich guest judges on Project Runway. Not a bad schedule.

In other news:

* I'm saving for a new computer and looking around for deals
* I paid off the rest of my medical bills, so that's at least one less thing to worry about
* I ordered a couple of belts from Torrid because they were having a 50% off clearance sale and I basically got 3 belts for the regular price of one (I'm going to return the one I bought for my birthday because I never even wore it and it still has the tag and everything)
* I bought two jackets (a cute brown one from work and a hot pink wool coat from Old Navy)
* I caved and bought myself a Jonas Brothers fanclub membership (DON'T JUDGE ME)

and most importantly
* I clearly need to stop spending money

Because I need to save for a computer, other than bills and maybe food, I really need to NOT spend any more money for at least a month. I have some money in a savings account, but still. I'm never going to get my own place at this rate. And good Lord, do I ever want to move out of here. Minimum wage makes it hard to save though. You buy some groceries and half of your savings is gone.

In conclusion, TOMA AND A TINY PUPPY!!!!!

You'll never take me back alive

It's almost 3am It's past 3am and I have work tomorrow, but I can't bring myself to get offline. My brother is at his friend's for the weekend (they're going to that Star Wars concert in San Jose) so I've been using his computer/internet while he's out. I know once he's back I'll barely get to check my email, so even if it costs me sleep (and sanity), I'm going to get as much use out of this time as possible. I've already caught myself up on Community, Never Mind the Buzzcocks, and Merlin.

Now I'm screencapping Toma's part from Yonimo Kimyona Monogatari since it's an interesting story (from what I can gather without subs), Toma looks good, and it's a nice quality file. *le sigh* I can't wait until I have my PSP again.

The day before my birthday, Tuesday, my coworkers gave me a cake as well as a couple presents from our store that they had chipped in to get for me. I might not love my job all the time, but I do love my coworkers <3

On my actual birthday, yesterday, I went to get lunch at the mall with my friend and her baby. I also went to Torrid where I got a ridiculously expensive belt. I still feel guilty for buying it, but I've been wanting one and it is/was my birthday. Then I came home and watched TV/played around online until we ordered pizza for dinner and my mom brought home a chocolate cake. I also may or may not have read some more Jonas fic.

Today didn't start out so well. I woke up to my mom coming in the house yelling at me to get up. It was 10:30ish and I had a 10:45 appointment to see a doctor about my cough. I guess I slept through my alarm. I never do that. Granted, I was up until about 3/4am, but still. So I call ahead and let them know that I am still coming in, I'll just be late. I get there, the doc gives me some antibiotics and tells me to come back in 2 weeks if I still have the cough and we'll do a chest x-ray or something. I get my medicine, my mom picks me up, we grab lunch, and I'm back home FINALLY watching the season premiere of Heroes. I was supposed to hang out with my other friend today but I guess there was a miscommunication, because when I talked to her earlier, she said she thought I was working today. Normally, I might be more annoyed, but I kind of just wanted to chill at home anyway.

And tonight I guess I'll watch SGU since I haven't got anything better to do ;P

Tomorrow my dad, stepmom, and sister are coming up to take me to Japantown for dinner. I think I'll have a bubble tea and a fish-shaped chocolate pancake. Mmmmm...

And then Sunday, it's back to work. And either that day or Monday, I have to go back to LensCrafters. I got my new glasses on the 25th, and I still feel like I'm looking through a fish bowl. I'm not sure if my new prescription is just so much stronger I haven't adjusted yet, or if it's just wrong. But either way I need to go back and find out. I'm not spending this much money for nothing.

And now I'll go finish the most recent ep of Heroes so I can at least be caught up with that.

I feel the magic all around you / It's bringing me to my knees

Just got some really bad work-related news today. My boss' boss, our DSM, was let go from the company today. He was a really great guy and now everyone is worried about their job. I've been better about spending money (I think), but I've really got to focus on saving now. Just in case.

I'm still coughing a lung out, so I made an appointment for Friday morning just to make sure my cold didn't/isn't turning into something worse.

My impending birthday has made me somewhat emo again. cut because it was annoying me )

In happier news, I think I'll get to see my friends at some point on my days off. At the very least, I'm doing nothing but watching TV/movies all day on my actual bday and on Saturday, my dad, stepmom, and sister are coming up to take me to Japantown for dinner. I asked for a new digital camera and 'Jonas Rockin' the House (Volume 1)' so should be interesting ;) I think I might also get my hair cut. I'm thinking maybe short bob again? I don't know.

In fandom-related news, I haven't watched Heroes yet. I'm scared *bites nails* I have all 2/3 eps on my computer though, just waiting for me to grow some balls. House has had some really good House/Wilson bits so far. FlashForward looks interesting enough to keep watching. I'm enjoying Merlin so far and even the inevitable Arthur/Gwen isn't bothering me too much. Psych is never not awesome (though I wouldn't mind if they toned down the Shawn/Juliet a little bit). Jonas continues to be a happy place. And I'm falling in love with Ikuta Toma all over again.

This segment of James Roday and Dulé Hill taking over Current is adorably funny (thanks to [livejournal.com profile] entwashian for sharing this gem).

And I think it might be time for another dose of cough medicine.

my exciting life

Going to sleep at around 2/3am and getting up at 10/11am for like a week in a row isn't very good for your body :/ I've also been eating really badly. Hell, I just made chocolate chip cookies from scratch (although mmmm!). I need to get back on track. I think that might be easier once I start work again on Wednesday. Then I'll be out of the house and actually moving around. But at the same time, ugh! I don't wanna go back to work. I know, I know. No right to complain. It was just nice being off - felt like I had a summer again.

The only semi-interesting things going on right now are:

* I have bubble tea

* I went to the King Tut exhibit with my dad, stepmom, and sister

* I saw Harry Potter with my mom (I now get why people have been slashing Harry/Draco - not that I didn't see it before, I just never really cared)

* In less than a week I watched all of Soul Eater and my newest OTP is actually het (not unheard of with me, just less common these days - there will probably be more on this later)

* I have an animated Soul Eater moodtheme

* I watched the final episode of Majo Saiban and spoilers )

* After having been away from fast food and whatnot for so long (long for me at least) and eating it again, I realize I don't think I really like it any more

* I go back to work on Wednesday

... And that's it :P
