Doctor Who

Spoilers

Ok, so now that I've stopped crying maybe I can think. I'll probably miss a few points... I'll rewatch it tomorrow. Maybe.

Good:

- The companions working together and piloting the TARDIS together.
- Ianto and Gwen having fun while the Earth is being moved through space.
- The Doctor telling Jackie not to touch anything ^_^
- The Doctor and Rose talking to Gwen about her family XD
- Jack pretending to die and then the whole exchange with him and Mickey.
- The TARDIS being a tugboat and carrying the Earth back home. I admit - I cried. It was like watching the Discovery Channel commercial 'The World is Just Awesome.' Beautiful.

Bad:

- Donna losing her memories. It might have been better if she had just died. I'm not sure I can pick a favorite companion, but I loved Donna and that was fucked up what happened to her.
- I have a problem with 'clones' or whatever. I didn't like it on SG1 when Jack was cloned into the boy, didn't like it on Voyager when Harry died and alternate!Harry joined the crew, and I didn't like it here. It's just a pet peeve of mine, I guess.
- I also didn't really like the ending turning into fanfiction with the Doctor living out the rest of his human life with Rose. I have to agree with some comments I've read. Rose is more than just in love with the Doctor. Wouldn't know it from watching this though.
- Making it feel like Martha is a bad guy for the tough positions she is put into. Had it been the only option (obviously LAST RESORT), at least then the whole of existence wouldn't have been destroyed.

I'm not sure I can make up my mind about how I feel on this one. It had some really good moments, but also a lot of 'Do not want!' Honestly, I'm looking more forward to more Torchwood. And although I'm not sure how I'd feel about it in the long term, I don't think I'd mind Martha or Mickey joining TW. Maybe for just recurring roles?

Ok, I might not know how I feel about the episode as a whole, but I'm still really pissed about what happened to Donna. Dammit.

Also, he didn't regenerate into a new person, but is he still 'Ten' or should we be calling him 'Eleven?' Or to put it another way, how many more times can he regenerate? Did he use up a regeneration healing himself?

It seems like everyone feels that Donna was hard done by. When the Doctor put his hands on Donna's head to do the memory wipe thingie, my brother had to put his hand over my mouth because I was quite loud in my "Oh, that's not fair. That's just mean!". :( In a way, that was worse than death which RTD probably thought was a better course of action for "quality tv" ... Bleh. We watched that woman grow into this brilliant character and it just ... disappeared. I am a bit cranky about it all really.

*grumpy*

At least with the other companions, if they're not there, they at least still remember and still 'exist.' And if she gets her memories back, she dies?! This does not make me happy :/

So true.

In a bitter sweet way, I think this makes Donna the most important companion out of them all (of NewWho - Not in the know with the Classics). She's the only one who has lost everything. And not only that, she does not know anything that has happened. Which sucks in a very huge way and devastates me. But she might turn out to be the companion everyone remembers ... I hope she does because, well, she's just BRILLIANT! FANTASTIC!

And in a way, I'm glad that they didn't cloud the whole final scene with "Ooooh - loookeee! Christmas Special!!!!" scene with the TARDIS. I'm glad they let the Doctor grieve without interrupting it all with other things.

Don't let me start on Rose *does some sort of karate chop in her direction*. Painful.

I need more Donna icons. *searches*

*hugs*

I'm still processing and developing a fanon that doesn't make me cry.

Also, he didn't regenerate into a new person, but is he still 'Ten' or should we be calling him 'Eleven?'

He just used the regeneration energy to heal himself instead of actually regenerating. So he's still Ten. The question is: does this mean he's got one less regeneration? Do Time Lords only have enough energy in them for twelve goes? Hmm. *ponders*

*hugs back*

I suppose that's what I meant to say. Did he use up a regeneration repairing himself? I have no idea... *ponders with you*

It seems like everyone is in two minds about the finale.

I'm not sure what to think about Martha and Mickey joining Torchwood Three, I'm not quite sure that I'd want three out of the five of them to be former companions from the parent show.

That's true. I don't really like it when a show keeps getting characters from their parent show, but maybe if we just saw them more but they weren't really main cast members. I wouldn't mind Martha or Mickey dropping in now and again.
