Watching CNN right now because an 8.9 earthquake and tsunami has hit Japan D:

Tsunami warnings in other countries. If you know anyone there, call them. Let them know. They might still be asleep and not know what's going on. Also, if you're in Hawaii or know anyone there, you can go here (http://www.scd.hawaii.gov/) and type in an address to see if you need to evacuate.

My condolences to everyone who've lost their loved ones (and homes/businesses) in the quake and tsunami. :( Hopefully, no one else will be hurt by the aftershocks or the tsunami.

According to the Weather Channel, the west coast might see some of the tsunami. I hope everyone is A-OK.

We did get a bit over here in California. Seems like most of our damage was in Santa Cruz (where I used to live actually) in the marina. Mostly property damage there (docks, boats, etc.). I know some people in Oregon were swept out to sea (at least 1 still missing) because they were taking pictures and watching what was going on. I'm sorry, and I understand wanting to see it because we don't get that kind of stuff here, but no. The water recedes and you run like hell to high ground. Do NOT just stand there taking pictures. It makes me sad to see people not take this stuff seriously :/

I know somebody in Hawaii. But I don't know how to get in touch with him anymore. We haven't spoken in ages. This is why you shouldn't lose touch with friends. o.o

I know how that feels. Thankfully, I think Hawaii wasn't hit too badly so he's probably okay. But still, it's never the same as knowing for sure/actually talking to the person. *hugs*
