For a minute there, I lost myself, I lost myself

I usually hate New Year's Resolutions because I feel like they're too much pressure, I never follow through with them, and then I feel guilty as hell. HOWEVER, there are a few things I need to get done/started and a new year is a good opportunity to start fresh. These are just the ones on the top of my head. I'm sure I'll think of more/add details later.

* I need to lose weight. Weight Watchers Online is currently having a sale and I'm thinking about maybe doing that. My stepmom has done WW and has lost weight, gotten healthy, and has been able to keep it going. I might post about my attempts at getting healthy so I have a record and because if I feel like other people know what I'm doing, I'll feel like I can't just quit ;)

* I need to start really exercising/getting healthy/building muscle.

* I need to eat way less fast food (like none!) and drink less soda/more water.

* I need to get out of the house more often, even if it's just for a walk around the block. In my new Shape-Ups which are SUPER comfy!

* I need to get my driver's license. With my mom's back injury, I want to make sure I can help her if I need to. It would also make finding a job easier/more realistic. And, Toma thinks women who drive are sexy ;)

* I need to work on my sleep schedule. Go to sleep and get up earlier. Ideally I'd like to get up and take a walk/do yoga as soon as I wake up to make sure I don't go back to sleep.

* I need to start seriously thinking about what I want to do and get out there/go for it because it sure as hell ain't coming to me. [This one might be the hardest.]

* I need to save more/spend less. I was doing really well and then not so well. I have got to learn to be patient. Can't have everything right away.

* I want to read more and I guess by extension spend less time watching TV/wasting time online. Well, okay I don't know about the latter, but I still want to read more.

* I need to help out more at home. Carry my share of the weight better.

* I want to donate to charity/volunteer more.

* I want to be more environmentally friendly.

* I should probably work on being less anti-social. We shall see how well that turns out :P

As a worker for a volunteer center, I can tell you that if you DO get involved in volunteering, a lot of the other things you have listed will follow automatically. We promote volunteering as a great way to put structure back into your life, sort out sleep patterns, get exercise, help others, meet new people and be sociable but there is no pressure attached like going out and getting a paid job

Go for it hon, you wont regret it.

I think after the new year, I'll look around my area and see what's out there and who might be looking for some help. I've spent enough time wallowing in self pity. I'd like to be able to think outside myself and help as much as I can :)
