Jul. 21st, 2009 05:07 pmI got to watch the lunar landing last night on the History Channel. It's something we kind of take for granted these days, but to see it 'live' was just amazing. To think that this had never happened before and practically the whole world was watching. They aired the CBS news broadcast of the event and I actually teared up.
I was also thinking about how silly it sort of seems to know so little about something that's so close to us, relatively speaking. There's so much we don't know about our own planet. There's so much we don't even know about the people who came before us or hell, even about our own brains. We know so little when you really think about it. We like to think we're educated and technologically advanced, and compared to the past, we are indeed. But in the grand scheme of things, we are still so young.
And sometimes, thinking about this kind of stuff makes me wonder why I get so worked up over what is really nothing. I mean, I know it's important in MY life, to ME, but when it comes down to it, I'm nothing.
But at the same time, I can't even fathom everything that had to happen in EXACTLY the right way to make it possible for me to even be here. I beat the odds. Major odds, too. We all did.
I don't know what I'm rambling on about. I blame the cream soda I just drank and the crappy movie, Knowing, I watched last night. Well, that and the whole anniversary of the moon landing. Ooh, and the fact that I go back to work tomorrow and I'm trying not to freak/stress out.
